The 2021 Virtual Youth Services Summit was held on Saturday, September 25th with lots of fall camaraderie on all things youth services!

Participatory session, reflecting on what we’ve learned in the past two summers. What will we keep for summer reading? What will we stop?  Facilitated by Greta Bergquist, State Library, with Summer Reading Chairs Lisa Elliott (OYAN), Dena Chaffin (CSD), and CSD Board members. There were breakout rooms and plenty of time for discussion.

The Best Recent Titles You May Have Missed

In the midst of all that’s been happening, you may have missed some awesome new titles kids will love. Angie booktalked some of the best under-the-radar stories from 2020-2021, including titles for babies, littles, and tweens and teens!

Intellectual Freedom: Someone Just Told Me This Book is Awful, Now What? with OLA Intellectual Freedom Committee members.
If you’d like to practice responding to community members who complain about a particular book, program, or display,  this is the spot for you!



Libraries’ Role in Building Teen Problem-Solving Skills, with Multnomah County Librarian Danielle Jones. Content from the YALSA Transforming Teen Services Project focused on programming that helps teens build their problem-solving muscles. This session is intended for librarians actively serving teens, it is not an introductory session. ​
